Why is it important?
The Word of God is the most important way that we hear the voice of God in our life. It is through the scriptures that we come to know the life and teachings of Jesus. In the readings at Mass we proclaim the truth of the Lord to the people in the community. It is our responsibility as Catholics to proclaim the word of the Lord. Being a lector at Mass gives an amazing opportunity to proclaim the truth of the Lord to our friends, family, and church community. We need people who are willing to read on Sundays and during the week in order to help make the Mass run smoothly, but more importantly so that the congregation can hear the scriptures. Training will be provided for all lectors. Please come help serve the Church community at the Mass to which you normally attend.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities include reading the readings during the week in order to prepare for lectoring at mass, as well as showing up 15 minutes before Mass to prepare and pray with Father. Second, to read during Mass once or twice a month at the Mass in which you attend. We need lectors and all Masses.
