Why is it Important?
The Altar Servers are the Priest right hand man during Mass. It is through the Altar Servers that the Mass runs smoothly and operates successfully. This role is one that is esteemed and honored in the Church because the Altar Servers are assisting the Priest who is in "Persona Christi" or "the Person of Christ". At this moment in the Mass the Altar Servers are playing assistant to Christ as they help the Lord speak and move through the Priest to the Church Community. It is the Altar servers that see the mass from the closest view, that understand what the Mass is suppose to look like and help serve the Church in an important and necessary way.
Who can be an Altar Server?
Altar servers can be any Catholic who has received the sacraments of Baptism and Communion. We encourage that anyone in third grade and beyond who has a desire to serve the church sign up to serve at Sunday Mass. Altar servers can serve at the Mass to which their family attends. Please pray about and consider signing up to Altar serve. Training is Provided!
