Position Description

St. Anthony’s Catholic Church is a vibrant community that is inspired by the spirit of faith, hope and love. We have launched new initiatives to welcome more youth and young families to join or return to the faith.  As we pursue our God-given mission to “Go and Make Disciples”, the Director of Parish Faith Formation (DFF) will assess the needs of the Parish, envision an overall faith formation program, and develop new approaches and strategies to make Jesus known and loved in every heart. The DFF will meet students, parents, adults and seniors where they are with Christ’s love. The DFF is responsible for the development, implementation, and administration of the overall faith development and evangelization efforts including Adult, RCIA, Youth, Children, Family and Sacramental Preparation. 

The DFF reports to and works in close collaboration with the Parish Executive Director as well as the Pastor, Music Minister, other employees, clergy and key volunteers.

Responsibilities:

 

  • Program Development: The DFF will collaborate with the Parish Executive Director, Pastor, and Liturgical Council in the overall development, implementation, and administration of faith development and evangelization programs and initiatives
  • Religious Education: Responsible for programs for prek - 12 grade, such as Children's Liturgy of the Word, religious education classes , children's Christmas Pageant, Vacation Bible School, Edge & Lifeteen,  Living Stations of the Cross and Youth Mass.
  • Sacramental Prep: Oversee all Sacramental preparation.
  • Vocation Awareness: Work closely with the Pastor in cultivating and educating the youth on the importance of discernment when it comes to considering a vocation. Prayer and communication to all parishioners on the importance of vocations will be key to this initiative.
  • Formation, Training & Supervision: Responsible for the recruitment, hiring and and training of faith formation staff and the many catechists and volunteers needed across all areas of faith development and evangelization.
  • Human Relations: Work hard at building relationships with students, parents, adults, volunteers and catechists in an effort to help all grow in their love and knowledge of Jesus and His Church. This will require that the DFF works in concert with the gifts and talents of other staff members and maintain a team mentality.
  • Administration and Finance: Ensure all Archdiocesan policies and procedures are followed, and work with the Parish Executive Director, Pastor and members of the Leadership Finance Council, to develop annual budget, and prepare annual calendar.

 

Experience

  • Degree in theology, pastoral studies, religious education or a related field (Master’s Degree preferred) and current knowledge of educational and Catechetical trends and practices required.
  • 5-10 years experience
  • Musically inclined
  • Proven ability to speak and present in an inspiring manner
  • Proven excellence in leadership and interpersonal skills, communications, and volunteer management.
  • Proficient with word processing, spreadsheet and presentation programs
  • Experience with database management and reporting
  • Experience utilizing website and social media.
  • Bilingual in Spanish is a preferred but willingness to learn is acceptable.


Other Information:

Schedule: Full time, 40+ hours per week, to include flexible hours during core parish office hours of 9am-4pm Monday through Friday plus weekend and weeknight hours as needed.

Rate: Salaried / Exempt,  $60 - $80k annual equivalent, depending on experience

Environment: Office setting requiring sitting and working on a computer, answering phone, standing, squatting, reaching and frequent trips outside to other buildings on the parish campus.

St. Anthony of Padua is located in south Novato in beautiful Marin County just north of San Francisco. With approximately half of our 1,500 registered families regularly attending Mass, we are committed to evangelization and outreach to bring Christ out into the community, to meet people where they are, love them as they are, and lead them to Christ through the Eucharist.  This position is a key role in that mission.
