Position Description

We have launched new initiatives to welcome more youth and young families to join or return to the faith.  As we pursue our God-given mission to “Go and Make Disciples”, the Director of Parish Faith Formation & Evangelization (DFFE) will assess the needs of the Parish, envision an overall faith formation program, and develop new approaches and strategies to make Jesus known and loved in every heart. The DFFE will meet students, parents, adults and seniors where they are with Christ’s love. The DFFE is responsible for the development, implementation, and administration of the overall faith development and evangelization efforts including Adult, RCIA, Youth, Children, Family and Sacramental Preparation. The DFFE will focus as the leader of Adult and Family Ministry while supervising a Youth Minister focused on Youth and Children Ministry.

 The DFFE reports to and works in close collaboration with the Parish Executive Director as well as the Pastor, Music Minister, other employees, clergy and key volunteers.

 Responsibilities:

  •  Program Development: The DFFE will collaborate with the Parish Executive Director, Pastor, and Liturgical Council in the overall development, implementation, and administration of faith development and evangelization programs and initiatives
  •  Evangelization: The DFFE will create opportunities for the multiple ways people experience conversion; sudden, shattering insight that brings rapid transformation; gradual growth over many years;  through RCIA; through ordinary friendship and family; through religious education; and through renewals, ecumenical encounters, retreats, and missions.
  • Vocation Awareness: DFFE will work closely with the Pastor in cultivating and educating the youth on the importance of discernment when it comes to considering a vocation. Prayer and communication to all parishioners on the importance of vocations will be key to this initiative.
  • Religious Education: The DFFE will work closely in the religious education of parishioners in their focus area (Adults and Families).
  • Sacramental Prep: Oversee all Sacramental preparation.
  • Formation and Training: DFFE will be responsible for the hiring of Youth Minister, and recruitment and training of many catechists that will be needed across all areas of faith development and evangelization.
  • Youth Ministry: Oversee Youth Minister who will be responsible for programs for prek - 12 grade, such as Children's Liturgy of the Word, religious education classes , children's Christmas Pageant, Vacation Bible School, Edge & Lifeteen,  Living Stations of the Cross and Youth Mass.
  • Human Relations: DFFE will work hard at building relationships with students, parents, adults, volunteers and catechists in an effort to help all grow in their love and knowledge of Jesus and His Church. This will require that the DFFE works in concert with the gifts and talents of other staff members and maintain a team mentality.
  • Administration and Finance: DFFE will ensure all Archdiocesan policies and procedures are followed and work with the Parish Executive Director, Pastor and members of the Leadership Finance Council, to develop annual budget, and prepare annual calendar.

Experience

  • Degree in theology, pastoral studies, religious education or a related field (Master’s Degree preferred) and current knowledge of educational and Catechetical trends and practices required.
  • 5-10 years experience
  • Musically inclined
  • Proven ability to speak and present in an inspiring manner
  • Proven excellence in leadership and interpersonal skills, communications, and volunteer management.
  • Proficient with Word and Excel
  • Experience with database management and reporting
  • Experience utilizing website and social media.

Other Information:

Schedule: Full time, 40+ hours per week, to include flexible hours during core parish office hours of 9am-4pm Monday through Friday plus weekend and weeknight hours as needed.

Rate: Salaried / Exempt,  $60 - $80k annual equivalent, depending on experience

Position Description

The Parish Executive Director (ED) is a ministry and operations strategist with both execution and delegation abilities and able to speak/teach inspirationally when needed. Working in collaboration with the Pastor, the ED  is responsible for the leadership and direction of all staff and volunteers, leading all functional areas in the accomplishment of the parish mission to “Go and Make Disciples”. This includes evangelization, pastoral care, community life, faith formation, liturgy, as well as strategic planning, finance, administration, human resources, and maintenance.

Managing a staff of key volunteers and employees including the Parish Secretary, Director of Faith Formation and Music Director, the Parish ED reports to the Pastor.

Responsibilities:

  • Organizes and coordinates the work of the parish's business office, including hiring, supervision, training, scheduling and separation of parish employees.
  • Collaborate with parish employees, clergy and volunteers in the many ministries supported by the parish
  • Provide ongoing feedback and professional development of staff through regular meetings and check ins with parish staff
  • Foster a culture of teamwork and cooperation
  • Oversee and train staff in volunteer management including on-going recruiting, training and recognizing volunteers.
  • Serve as the ADP payroll and HR administrator, ensuring timely and proper submission
  • Works with the Finance Council to annually prepare the parish budgets to be approved by the Pastor and and submitted to the Archdiocese of San Francisco
  • Monitors the collection, counting, and deposit procedures of all parish income
  • Manages the cash flow of parish monies and pays all parish expenditures in a timely manner, as well  deposits to savings and to accounts of funds held in trust
  • Reconciles or oversees the reconciliation of all bank statements, revolving fund statements, etc
  • Prepares bi-monthly financial reports of the parish's income and expenses; attends and presents reports to the parish finance council.Maintains all financial records and other records and business information as necessary or prudent in accord with archdiocesan policy
  • Oversees the purchase of all office equipment, furnishings, and supplies
  • Maintains personnel files and maintains health, life, and disability insurance plans and retirement plans as required by the Archdiocese of San Francisco
  • Interface with the Diocese HR, Finance, Facilities and Safety Departments
  • Ensures all volunteer forms, release from liability forms, Virtus Safe Environment certification and fingerprinting, etc., for parish activities are secured and maintained
  • Coordinates the parish's participation in the Archbishop's Annual Appeal (AAA)
  • Oversees donor development including fundraisers, capital campaigns, and special projects
  • Oversees all parish communications including website, social media, weekly bulletin, emails and phone outreach
  • Performs all others tasks as necessary for the financial stability of the parish and enrichment of parish staff

 

Experience

  • B.A. or B.S degree in accounting, business administration or related field or equivalent work experience required
  • Pastoral Studies, Theology or Biblical studies is a plus
  • Minimum 7 + years business management, operations and supervision including experience in human resources and accounting, budgets and reporting
  • Proven excellence in leadership and interpersonal skills, communications, and project management.
  • Proficient with Word and Excel
  • Experience with database management and reporting
  • Experience with volunteer management
  • Familiarity with computer systems, facilities management, marketing, donor development, website & social media
  • Knowledge and practice of the Catholic faith
